Decking The Halls......

The tree and mantle still need some finishing touches, but thought I would give you a sneak peak at what we were up to the day after Thanksgiving! I still can't believe Audrey & I were at the mall at 530am on Black Friday! I vowed to never do that, and then there I was trying to find a parking space while it was still dark outside. Truth be told, Audrey was wide awake and ready to play @ 4am, so that is the ONLY reason we went since we were already awake. People were looking at us like, 'that poor baby that mom drug out of bed'. She drug me out of bed people! :) I went in search of Conor's Christmas present, but came back with some J.Crew shirts for him instead. Still on a mission to find what I'm looking for. All in all, I didn't find anything I couldn't live without! It wasn't too bad or crowded like I thought it would be. Audrey & I got home around 7am and crashed for the next few hours.
Here it is!!!.....Our Rebar Wreath Christmas Tree. An O'Reilly Family Tradition!! This tree was specially made for us and traveled all the way from Georgia to grace our living room with it's presence. A big shout out to Jere & Michael for bringing it to us! Thank you and we love it!!Still needs a few finishing touches. Like some lime green & red poinsettas, maybe some fun ribbon, and I desperately need a new tree skirt. I decided I wanted a little whimsey mixed in this year.
I forgot to paint the rebar gold, but Conor said he likes it rusty! Ha! Maybe next year.
Displays ornaments in the center of the wreaths, so you can see them better, plus they hang better this way!
Fresh Garland is the Best!!!! The mantle still needs some stockings, and the wreath needs some attention.

Today I will be in search of Christmas Vacation on DVD (I can't believe I don't own my favorite movie of all time), and tonight we will watch it as we drink hot cocoa from our 'Eddie Moose Mugs'!!! This is the BEST time of year!!

Happy Thanksgiving Everyone!!! This is one of my favorite days I look forward to all year!! Mom, Neal & Stacey joined Conor, Audrey & I for our 1st Thanksgiving Day Feast in our home. It went really well!!! Conor fried a turkey. It was probably the best turkey I've ever had. So moist and flavorful. I made my Grandma Ruth's broccoli, rice & cheese casserole dish, cranberry sauce, maple & pecan glazed carrots, and rolls. Mom made mashed potatoes & gravy, cornbread dressing & brown sugared pecan pie with whipped cream!! Everything was so wonderful!! Conor, Audrey & I literally ate leftovers for breakfast, lunch, & dinner today.

Playdate @ The Fire Station

On Tuesday we rounded up the kiddos and headed to Edmond to get a tour of station 4. The firemen graciously opened up their home away from home and let us tour the facility. They all hang out in one large room complete with a kitchen, huge flat screen, & recliners. Not too shabby!! For some reason the tour was scheduled for 12:00, so the kids hadn't eaten and were very cranky! It was short and sweet, but I think they got a kick out of it! Social Butterfly

Update on Ultra Sound.....

Once I figure out how to scan my ultra sound pictures I will post them. I leave all that stuff up to Conor, so maybe tomorrow we'll get around to it. The appointment went well other than the fact that we had to wait AN HOUR AND A HALF!!!!!.....with a very feisty & sleepy 10 month old!!!!!!! Thank goodness Mom came (Thanks Mom!) with me, or it would have been a nightmare. Baby O'Reilly 2 is 8 cm which is 4 inches long, had a healthy heartbeat (153), and was very active. It's little feet and hands were kicking all over the place. We decided not to get the test for Down Syndrome because the accuracy rate wasn't great and plus, it's like what are you going to do? Nothing!! (Every woman is offered the test, so not to worry) But once I got there I couldn't help but to feel the need to know how this little kiddo is developing. I think I'm more concerned this time because of the medication I'm taking. It just makes me nervous about the safety of this baby, but there's nothing I can do about that. I realized I would like to know before hand if there is anything to be concerned about. Here is more information on how the test is performed.....

Maternal serum screening tests

A blood test (done on mom) often called the "triple screen" can be done between the 15th and the 20th weeks of pregnancy. The triple screen looks at three substances in the mother’s blood stream - alpha-fetoprotein (AFP), unconjugated estriol and human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG). AFP is produced in the yolk sac and fetal liver, and estriol and hCG are produced by the placenta. When a fetus has Down syndrome, the levels of these substances in the mother’s bloodstream can be different from normal. AFP and unconjugated estriol are about 25 percent lower than normal levels, and maternal serum hCG is approximately two times higher than the normal hCG level.

The triple screen is - as it’s name implies - just a screening test. It cannot tell for sure if your baby has Down syndrome, but it can tell if your risk is higher. If your screening test is positive, it simply means your risk of having a baby with Down syndrome is higher than other women your age. But even with a positive screening test, most women will have babies without Down syndrome. Conversely, a negative triple screen means that the chance of Down syndrome is low but not zero. It doesn't guarantee a baby without Down syndrome.

The triple test can detect approximately 60 percent of the pregnancies affected by trisomy 21 and will miss about 40% of cases.

Made it....

We are officially in the 2ND Trimester. We find out Jan 5th what the sex of the baby will be. We still think it's a boy, and already have a name picked out! We are having a 'Gender Reveal Party' for family & friends shortly after the 5th. Sounds corney, but right up my alley. Anything to celebrate and throw a party for, right!? We will, of course, keep you posted. I go in today for an ultra sound to see peanut. I love to hear the heartbeat and see the heart beating. It's truely an amazing experience we are so happy to share with you!! I will post pics of the ultra sound later today. Wish me luck and let's pray for a healthy pregnancy, delivery, & recovery!!!

Tackiness Is In The Air...

Our Junior League Provisional Class rounded up 30 ladies, dressed in Tacky Sweater Christmas attire, rented a 'Rock Star Party Bus' complete with 2 stripper poles, 80's jams, and headed to Okarche, OK to Eischans (I know, I know...how much fried chicken can one girl eat)!! It's about a 40 minute ride, but since the bus topped out at 59 mph, it took us a good hour and a half to make it there, which was fine by us. We played some games to get to know each other, and danced to awful awesome 8o's music. It's so interesting not being able to drink and observing what I probably used to look like. It sure was halarious though and VERY entertaining watching these girls work those poles like it was their 2nd job!! We had a wonderful time and everyone looked amazingly TACKY!!! Just the way we wanted it!!!

'Auntie Allison' came to visit from LA

Allison was in town from Los Angeles to visit family for Thanksgiving, attend Ashish's wedding, and to hang out with her oldest friends in the world. Allison and I first met when we were 3 and attending pre-school at Children's New World in our hometown of Yukon. We played basketball together in 4th & 5th grade, cheered together in 8th & 9th, danced our little hearts out on Pom in 10th, 11th, & 12th, kinda lost touch in college (she went to OU & I was at UCO-an hour away), but picked it back up with our annual Christmas Party. We have been through it all with each other. I love and respect this lady immensely ! She is the best 'Auntie Allison' to our kids and I'm grateful to have such an amazing friend in life!!! They don't come around like this anymore! We used to say we were each other's soul mate. I thought she would enjoy a Gymboree Thursday with Audrey & I, and she was a trooper. After class @ 11am, she mumbled 'Auntie Allison' needs a cocktail!' HA! So typical, and that's why I love her!!

She later told me she was so worn out from hanging out with Audrey that she slept 12 hours that night. Ha!!

or in Audrey's case, Walking Wings. She is standing on her own now (15 seconds at a time), and so close to walking. Angie (Conor's cousin) is in the process of moving, downsizing, and graciously giving us some of Josie's belongings that she has out grown. I'd never seen 'walking wings' before, and it's a hoot to watch her walk around the house. They're available at walkingwings.com
