Introducing....

I'm so excited my best friend decided to jump on the blog train with me. Jennifer & I met at a slumber party in 6th grade. We weren't friends immediately because we were both super shy and attended different schools. What I initially remember about Jen is that she had the longest, blondest hair and a pretty silver bow ring that I couldn't take my eyes off of (Ha! It's so funny what you remember, and it goes to show you my jewelry obsession started early!). We reconnected in 7th grade when we both made the cheerleading squad and the rest is history.

We've been through it all folks~ pom, cheer, boyfriends, friends, prom, OU/UCO parties, keg stands (sorry mom), shopping trips to Dallas, skiing in Breckenridge, many SATC Marathons, wine nights, craft nights, weddings, play dates, the births of our babies, and sooo many more memories to share.

So without further ado, meet my gorgeous best friend Jennifer Kerr and the ridiculously handsome men in her life!

Thankful Thursday

~I was up all night with the worst pain in my ear and neck. Sharp, shooting pain that kept me awake all night. I'm very thankful for my family doctor and the medicine he prescribed me today to make me feel better, and for all his advice on Father's Day gifts. :)

~ I'm thankful for the girl's Children's Day Out class. The ice cream truck was visting todayand they we're so excited. I'm thankful we have a nice 2-day, healthy break from one another and they take care of my babies so well and keep them entertained and happy while this momma can catch up on some much needed sleep today!

~ I'm thankful that tonight Conor & I will be grilling out and celebrating my Dad's birthday. It's been a while since I've seen him so it will be great to catch up over grilled lamp chops.

~ I'm thankful for Academy Sports for offering up an array of manly items for me to choose from for Father's Day. It's never an easy thing for me to shop for my hub. Whatever he wants, he usually goes out and gets so I'm always racking my brain for gift ideas. Why are men so hard to shop for??

~And last but not least, I'm soooo thankful we leave on Sunday for our first beach vacation together as a family. Heading to Destin to play in the sand and relax on the beach. So ready for a VACATION!!!!!! Whoo Hoo!!!

Chandeliers

I've been browsing for chandeliers online and in stores for almost a year now. Of course, everything I love is waayy out of my price range.
I found these beautiful chandys on Overstock.com and I couldn't believe the price! All are priced for under $200!!!
The only lighting in our dining room is 4 can lights on dimmers. I never like the light on full blast because it gets so hot (especially while entertaining) and the lighting tends to be a little too harsh. I'm a fan of soft lighting. But, when I turn down the lights a tad, there is this awful buzzing sound. It drives me crazy. Anyway, I'm wanting a glamourous chandelier to provide the lighting I'm craving without the buzz sound and hefty pricetag. I think I may be in luck. Love it when that happens.

This one is my fav, I think. Very elegant and glam!
Also available in white
I love this one because it's so unique and bold!
Simple and elegant
Sparkley shades! This would be so pretty with the light reflecting off the shades.
Any favorites that caught your eye??

Audrey's Big Girl Bed

Here's one of the projects I've been working on. It's been a long one, a month and a half to be exact but who's counting, but I couldn't be more in love with the long awaited completion.

This is an old, antique bed that has been in my husband's family for years. My in-laws drove it in from Georgia and before that it was my hub's uncle's bed when he lived in Texas. I'm very sentimental and I love the fact that we are passing it down to our daughter. When I saw a picture of it, I knew it was the one. I mean, how perfect is the gorgeous heart on the headboard? Perfect for a 2 year old little girl!
I ordered Annie Sloan's chalk paint in Duck Egg Blue & Old White and jumped in head first. I've never used this product before and I can't tell you enough good things about it. I LOVE it! So easy, dries fast, no fumes, no primer! A little pricy but I justified the price tag with not having to buy primer. It probably would've added up to be the same amount.

Here it is after 2 coats of the Duck Egg Blue
After dry brushing it with Old White and whiping off with a damp rag
Final stages of sanding. It sands so well and I got to bust out my mom's electric sander. I really wanted an aged look and the sander did just that.
Here it is after the final touch~clear wax
GORGEOUS!!!
I ordered the fab pillows from Kenilworth on Etsy. Going for 'cottage shabby shic' decor.
After I applied the wax to it yesterday, I was soooo impatient and dragged it in the house (by myself) and set it up. That headboard is so heavy but I couldn't stand it. The good thing is it's on rollers so it helped me out a little bit.
With the safety guard in tact, the temporary full comforter is too big, so I'm on the hunt for a twin white quilt that wont hang over the side rails to complete the look.
The girls love it and wanted to jump and play all evening.
It was difficult to get a good pic because of her excitement.
It was worth the wait when she squealed with delight and said, 'ohhhh pretty'!
Love her!
