Turquoise Nook

I know I've said it before, but I'm always amazed by what a little bit of paint can do.
I just had a hankering the other night right before I started dinner to paint the nook in the kitchen that had recently been built. Prior to this it was a cabinet with two doors but after installing the new oven we had to take the doors off & add a shelf to accommodate the new size of the oven. Anywho, I've been back in forth debating with myself what colors to choose because redoing the kitchen cabinets is high up on my to-do list for fall.
I chose the Annie Sloan providence because I love it and I had it on hand.
Here is the after...
I'm also over the color red.
I went through a red kick about 6 years ago where every home decor item I purchased was red, so I've been slowly getting rid of all those things over the last 3 years and trying to lighten up the joint. This sign (below) is probably one of the last signs of the red-obsession (pun intended). It's cute and I love it, but you could barely read what it said. And you know I'm allll about working with what you got.
So of course I painted it.

This is the before:
before the Bon Appetit sign was painted (can you even spot it above the nook?) and before the nook was painted.
See how dark it was?
 Much better!!

Such a subtle change but one that I think looks so much better.
Proudly displayed are:: cook books, a paella skillet, a decanter, cupcake holder, silver pear, and canister
My MacKenzie Childs canister is one of my most beloved items in my kitchen so I wanted it to be on display. I actually didn't realize how much I would love this space to display my cook books and accessories so it was exciting that our contractor worked with me and created this perfect sized shelf for the kitchen.
Happy Friday! XO
