Dallas Shopping Trip

A few ladies & I enjoyed a weekend getaway from our husbands and kiddos and indulged in our favorite pastime. That's the great thing about Dallas, only a 3-hour road trip away from fabulous shopping and fun restaurants. It was so wonderful to not be on a schedule, woken up 2-3 times a night, sleep until 8am, take a hot shower without someone banging on my door, etc.
I think you get the gist. On the second day, however I was missing everyone but loving every second of 'me' time I could get. :))

We did quite a bit in the short, but very sweet 2 days we were there. Here are some shots from Instagram, my new favorite way to take pics. Enjoy

~cruising through Highland Park [my dream hood]
~stopping by Soda Fountain for an old-school, glass bottled diet coke. So refreshing after shopping allll day.
~filling our cart full of goodies at IKEA
~sipping on a Mojito in the hotel bar
~sushi at The Fish
Brunch at Breadwinners with Court
Courtney, Brandy, myself & Jennifer
Packing the SUV full of our purchases!
We did pretty well and everything we got was such a bargain.
My kind of shopping!
~Wisteria outlet {new fave} and a silver table which I was drooling over
~Calypso St Barth: over priced and fab!! That birdcage wire chandelier was almost 9 grand. Crazy hu!! That bowl was pretty spectacular as well
~picking up Sprinkles cupcakes for the family
So I have a confession.
Our main focus was to antique shop while in Dallas.
I will admit we didn't hit up one single antique store. :/

Like I said before, that's the great thing about not being on a schedule! It was so fun and relaxing and I really enjoyed meeting Jennifer and getting to know Brandy more. Hopefully we can plan another one soon.

*Stay tuned for my purchases*

Scenes from our weekend

Loving all my perennials this spring.
I swear they are twice the size that they were last year.
This weekend we hung around the house due to the crazy weather coming into town.
It poured all evening on Friday.
I opened the back door and the girls enjoyed watching the rain come down. I was glued to the weather channel all night. Tornados give me major anxiety!!
After the storm cleared Audrey and I headed to the toy store for her 'Potty Prize'.
She picked a Rapunzel dress and jewelry box and insists on sleeping with both. She got her name on the 'potty board' at school so they will be celebrating with a pizza party for all the kiddos. So proud of our girl!!
Changed the paint color in the kitchen (FINALLY). It really opened it up and gave it new life. I'm always amazed by what a fresh coat of paint can do.
Sunday we worked in the garden, jammed to i-tunes, planted okra, and cut some fresh flowers. After the yucky weekend weather it was so nice to get outside and enjoy my hub while the girls were napping. I'll take one-on-one time when I can get it! :)
All the rain had weighed down my irises and roses, so I was tickled to add some freshly cut flowers in the house.
I've been on the Paleo diet for 7 days now and I really love it. I've lost 5 lbs and I'm feeling so great. I cut out my beloved morning coffee and replaced it with green tea. However, Sunday for dinner I totally cheated and loved every minute of it!! We ordered from our fave pizzeria and it seriously was the best pizza I've ever had. When you've been eating clean for 7 days, it really makes you appreciate a great carb! ha!
Ava girl talking to herself and playing outside. This girl cracks me up!

Scenes from our weekend

I had the pleasure of sifting through my old toys in my Dad's attic. It's funny what you don't remember until you see it. After cleaning all my old toys the girls had a hay day with them and enjoyed a playdate with Heidi. I also brought home my old toy box that I plan on redoing for Ava's room.
Park Day and Picnic
Feeding the fishes and splashing in Nana's pond
My friday evening watching the girls play
Their favorite patio job is filling the water fountain and watering the flowers with my garden pitcher.
On Saturday morning I volunteered at the library and had to bring the girls with me due to a scheduling conflict. I was a little nervous about bringing them but they did pretty well and had fun doing the arts-n-craft.
After putting Audrey down for her nap she obviously got out of her bed and decided to play (i.e. :trash room/closet) before crashing.
Backyard play before bath time
Tried out a new Pinterest recipe~Chicken and spinach Flautas.
Loved them!
Sunday morning consisted of staring at fabric swatches and drinking my morning coffee.
I have plans to sew new cafe curtains for the front door, dining room curtains and recover 6 dining chairs.
Lil Stinker got into the markers while I was drooling over textiles.
Thank goodness for washable markers. Came right off...
Sunday Robyn celebrated her daughter turning 1~
Happy Birthday Sweet Scarlett!!
Happy for lazy Mondays because this Momma is whooped!! :)

Scenes

from the last couple of weeks...

Picking up their charm bracelets at the mall, Audrey had to model hers for me.
After checking on her before I went to bed, this is how I found her.
She's a crazy sleeper like her Momma.
I'm very proud of my antique finds that I recently found at The Rink.
I'm so in love with that place.
There's something about spring that makes me want to antique shop.
Audrey was impressed with my finds also. She said, 'Oooo pretty Mommy."
lounging together, playing Leap Frog
Pink Lilies
hat shopping
yogurt sharing at the mall
spider mums in the entry

The Bob!
St Patty's Day at our favorite park.
My sweet Vava!!

Scenes from my week(end)

Go into Whole Foods for allergy medication and walk out with a hot pink orchid also. Perched in my brother-in-law's vase he gave to me three Christmases ago, I'm in love.
You should check out his website. Amazing artist!
Fun Fact about me: I'm a night owl~unless I'm wiped out and fall asleep at 9pm (like last night), but on many nights I'm wide awake, most always when Conor is out of town, painting my little heart out or working on other projects. And when I paint, I always watch It's Complicated. Weird and random yes! So I've seen that movie probably 30 times and it never gets old.
Two of my latest.
Valentines from the girls. They picked Disney Princess for their classmates.
They received a Valo~gram at school from us and were so excited!
Flowers from my sweet Hub.
He's the best!
Double-fisting candy
Sorting through their Valentines loot.
~The girls take over the kitchen~
When I start dinner, they grab their aprons and their kitchen supplies and love to help me cook. It can get a little crammed and chaotic but I love these moments with them. They really feel like they're doing something pretty special and that's really sweet to see.
Our nephew Baby Michael is getting so big!! Almost 1 year. Is he not the cutest!!
Fun fact about Audrey::
Audrey eats cherry tomatoes by the package. It's her favorite snack always. Tomatoes and blueberries.
New pair of running shoes. I'm so excited about them. I'm running my 1st half marathon in June with my best friend in San Diego. So it's official, the training has begun.
Mom, Audrey & I went antique shopping and found a few little treasures~
A tray that would look great holding my perfumes.
Painted with 2 coats of foil metallic spray paint and I think it looks better than new. I love it!
This picture is from a favorite blog I follow~ Live Creating Yourself. Her Chicago apartment is so eclectic and mixed with all different styles and I just adore it. After spotting these skinny, white candle holders on her buffet in her dining room, I've had a crush on them ever since.
Well lookie what I found for $1 a piece.
I felt like I won the lottery.

Hit up Home Depot for glossy white spray paint and it worked like a charm
These are very versatile and would work well as a centerpiece on the dining table for any holiday party or dinner.
The other 3 are temporarily on the mantle.
Happy Monday!
