Scenes from our weekend

I drove to Dallas sans hub and kids for a night out with my dear friend Holly. It had been almost nine months since we've done a girls weekend.
We always do it up right when we're together! That's what I love about her. We love to celebrate life.

Saturday we enjoyed Sangrias poolside and I caught up on some fun reads.
Dallas is probably 10 degrees hotter than OKC, it was sizzling!!!!
 Ku De Ta
This place was so much fun!! It's a private pool, so you have to be a member or know someone that is. It was nice because it wasn't crowded, just a nice intimate setting with water misters, water fountains everywhere, some fun music and a great view of the city. We loved it!
Nothing better than this view from the patio.
 Dallas has such amazing energy.
 The Avenu
After a sushi dinner at The Fish we took a cab and went dancing!! It has been a looong time since I boogied down at a nightclub. We were good little girls though and only stayed an hour or so & we're in our pjs by midnight. Ha!
Man, I'm getting old.
About 6 months ago, Conor and I attended an art party in Dallas and painted our own canvases. Well we had to leave them in the art studio overnight to dry and didn't pick them up the next morning before leaving town.  Long story short, I've been really wanting to get my hands on these so I could display them in our home. I finally brought them back home with me and I just love them so much. I forgot what they looked like it had been so long.
Here is Conor's proudly displayed in our kitchen. To see an inspiration piece I picked out for him, click here. He was a little shy about me hanging it up in the house, but I ignored him, Ha! He wanted to hang it in the garage but that didn't go over so well. Never knew he had such creative talent. I don't think he did either.
Here is mine. It's in the entry for now, but I'm sure I will play with it and move it around. To view my inspiration for this piece click here.
Here is my VaVa being so serious after I got home Sunday afternoon. I think she missed me, and I missed her spunk!
Sunday evening, I grilled a good old-fashioned summer dinner and we enjoyed it on the patio.
Bruschetta Chicken, southwest salad & yummy sweet tea. Nothin better.
Of course, in her princess getup! I wouldn't expect anything less from this one!
After dinner and baths, the girls cuddled up with their blankets and watched Rio in our bed. They are loving this set-up but I don't want them to get too used to it, so I only let them do it on weekends usually. We're having issues with Audrey sneaking in our room nightly to sleep and I just don't want her to get in this habit so I'm kinda protective of my bed. I say this because I slept with my parents until I was like 12. Not good.
I've been wanting a pair of Foo Porcelain Dogs for a while now. They are not the most attractive thing close up but I just adore them and I love what they represent which is said to have powerful, mythic protective benefits.
My husbands's exact words were, "those are the ugliest things I've ever seen." Ha! I kinda agree but something about them I'm so attracted to.
Our styles apparently differ, but I feel protected now. ;)
I couldn't have said that better myself.
