China Cabinet

One of my New Year's resolutions was to refinish my grandmother's china cabinet. After it sat in my garage for a year and a half, I was able to tackle that huge project of mine a couple of months ago and I couldn't love it more!
My grandma purchased it in Bethany in the 1960s so I felt, of course, it was very dated and needed a make-over to mesh well with everything in my home.
It has really great lines, handles/pulls, and is very sturdy. It's such a great piece and I feel so blessed to finally have it finished in my living room, full of treasured accessories.
I researched ideas and inspiration for a good solid year before diving right on in and painting it Old Charter white with a Permission chevron pattern on the backside with a heavy sanding.
Almost everything in the hutch was also my grandma's including this 8 piece set. I had it stored in boxes for years so I was so happy to finally be able to display it.
The red ceramic strawberry sugar cup was given to us by Conor's mom. She hand painted it when she was little at a camp. The lettuce dishes are mine and I always use these when we entertain.
This tiny little bowl was made during a pottery class I took years ago. It's my first piece to have ever made on the ceramic wheel. I totally had a Demi Moore moment and it was amazing. I loved that pottery class and I'm thinking I would love to start it back up.
I have two of these glasses and they are very dear to my heart. When I was little and would visit my Grandma on 'the farm' in Oakwood (outside of Watonga, ever heard of Watonga cheese? :) she would make her delicious chocolate pudding and always serve it in these glasses. Aww the memories!! So very special!
Grandma bought this pitcher/glasses in California in the 70s and I always use this for serving up fruity drinks for parties.
This was a clear glass vase that I painted with looking glass to appear as mercury glass.
These candelabras I found at the beginning of spring at The Rink and they are hands down one of my favorite antique finds.
I added a blue and coral to highlight the lines on the bottom cabinet and painted the handles/pulls with metallic gold paint.
lots of sanding...
I found these white wine glasses when Mom & I were antiqing in Pink, OK.
There she is!! I love her!!!
*Special Thanks to my Mom who styled it for me!*
Hope you enjoyed it.
This weekend a couple of friends and I are road tripping to Dallas to do some serious antique shopping and I couldn't be more excited. It will be so fun to get away, enjoy a nice warm meal and actually sit down while I eat (ha!, seriously tho), maybe a couple of glasses of champs, possibly squeeze some time in at the spa, and catch up with the girls. :)))
I'm BEAMING with excitement!!!!
Can you tell?

Random 5

I'm linking up with Nicole today to do Five for Friday is 5 Random Facts about you.....

Enjoy my randomness.

1. I'm in the middle of a full blown allergy attack. I pulled weeds in the backyard garden today. I hooked the sprinkler up while Audrey squealed with delight. I'm not even half way done yet. Next week, it's on! I've got so many bulbs and seeds to plant and there's all kinds of perennials popping up through the ground. I'm looking forward to living on the patio this summer!
2. I bought fresh flowers at the market today and they're currently looking pretty good in my $2 mint julep garage sale vases I got last year. Are you seeing a trend here. Okay I'll shut up about flowers.
3. I miss my husband tremendously this week. He's been in South Texas on business since Monday. Looking forward to planting a big kiss on him when he walks through the door tonight.
4. I'm taking the girls to Chucky Cheese tomorrow and I can't hardly wait. That was my favorite place as a kid and we'll be celebrating a friend's son's birthday.
5. Spin in the morning. Always brightens my day.

Okay now it's your turn.
Tell me some fun random facts about you.

Happy Friday!

Wine & Canvas

On Saturday Wine & Canvas was held at In The Raw. I met mom & my sister there to enjoy an afternoon of wine, sushi & painting.
Here is what we painted. It's called a 'Farm In Brittany' and it was actually a lot harder than I anticipated.
Ready to get my paint on.
My idea of a perfect afternoon.
Mom's Masterpiece
Looks like a 10 year old painted it, but whatever.
It was interesting to see other peoples interpretation of the same painting.
In the kitchen is where it resides.
Definitely doing it again!
Who wants to do it with me?
Any takers?
