Scenes from our weekend

Our sweet baby spent the evening in the hospital this weekend. After waking up Saturday morning gasping for air, she was rushed to the ER and admitted that afternoon. A few rounds of steroids, oxygen and breathing treatments, and Ava was finally starting to perk up. Since we knew we were stuck at the hospital for the night, we tried to make the best of it. We watched TV, read, pinned, drank a ton of Dr Pepper and cuddled with our baby.
Back at the house, I had lots of cleaning to do. Toys and clothes everywhere. How does that happen? I swear the house was spotless on Thursday. I like to call our sweet daughters my lil wrecking balls....
I started reading Kyle Richards new book, and I love it. I love her. Good read with lots-o-coffee for my Sunday morning.
Humidifier and soundscapes during nap time for the sick babe.
After a stressful weekend, Conor & I reeeally enjoyed this bottle of wine. Too bad it was a Sunday or I would've enjoyed a couple more.
My paper whites that I planted in November finally bloomed this weekend. I almost gave up on them.
The girls are loving the Valentines decorations....
Back in business....

Bliss.

Ava

I found this old post that I forgot about from Ava's birthday that I never posted. (Bad Mom) Not much has changed other than Ava looks like a baby........ enjoy

After a two week hiatus, I'm happy to report Im alive, rested, I'm back and ready to hit the ground running again!!! In the last couple of weeks, we've celebrated Ava's 1st birthday, Mother's Day, & spent time with family & friends. I've tackled a couple of projects that have been on my to-do list for months and I'm not stopping there. Ava started MDO last week, so I've had the opportunity on Tuesdays and Thursdays to work on projects, and I'm loving it. And so is she. Things are well, the girls are doing great, Ava is teething again, Audrey is blabbering in sentences, Conor's working like crazy, and I'm trying my best to take care of everyone and myself. It's been so hectic lately that I'm having to remind myself to slow down and relax.

Tuesday was Ava's 1st birthday and her and I got to spend the day together running errands, celebrating with a cupcake, late lunch with Dad, boutique browsing on Western, & playtime with big sis. It was such a sweet day with my girl. One Year?? How can that be??

Movin' On Up

Everyday seems to be passing by faster than the next. It blows my mind. I remember dropping Audrey off in this class while Ava was a newborn and snuggled up in her carseat and now Ava's time has come.
Ava is a Monkey now. Last week was her first week in her new class. Look at her little bitty pony tail. Ahh, just melts my heart!
My sweet baby
Audrey likes to go with me to drop Ava off in her class and pick her up. It must be a big sis thing. Their teachers will tell me that they wave to each other and blow kisses when they pass by each other in the hall. That made me so proud and just want to burst with happiness. They fight (or squawk at each other) but they love each other so much also.
After dropping Ava off we stopped by Audrey's posters that are on display. They are learning and recognizing their favorite things & their home. She's so proud of her posters and she loves to stop and look and them before we go into her classroom.
Her Favorites~Strawberries, Hello Kitty, the park, and family!

Poor Vava and TMI on Motherhood

A couple of weeks ago, Ava had the hardest day of her sweet little life so far.
It started with the worst diaper rash I've ever seen that literally appeared over night.
She was hysterical by this point in the early morning hours and would not let me put her down, so I didn't want to dress two kids, load them in the car, get to the store only to experience the worst meltdown in history. No Thanks! My mom to the rescue!
I asked mom to leave work (C was out of town) and make a store run to get the only thing the doctor recommends for diaper rash (lotrimin) that we happened to be out of.
She's cutting her back teeth so she tossed, turned and cried all night.
As I was tending to Audrey that morning, I put Ava in her pack-n-play for a little down time. She reacted with projectile vomit. Literally all over the pack-n-play, floor & herself.
I dragged her pack-in-play outside, turned on the hose, and got down and dirty scrubbing that thing with a brush and soap.
Taking off her diaper and letting her run around in her birthday suit calmed her instantly.
I just love her little toosh in this pic!
Audrey really is taking on the BIG sis role amazing!! She's such a great helper!
Shortly before the face plant... :(((
I didn't think it could get any worse. My anxiety was at an all-time high and I thought things were calming down and it was going to be a beautiful day to play outside.
About 10 minutes after mom left, Ava face plants on the wood floors and cuts her lip and bloodys her nose. She smears it all over her face and all over me. She cried and cried and cried....
The only thing I could do was hold her, and rock her while both of us were covered in blood. What a sight.
My heart broke for her. How could all of these events taken place and it wasn't even 10am yet? I called Conor thinking he would save the day or say something really profound, but what can he really do thousands of miles away? I really had to dig down deep and calm myself that morning.....
I escaped to the bathroom to take a hot bath and all I could hear was the sounds of both kids banging on the door, screaming for me. I submerged my ears in my bubble bath to flood out the sound. :)
I really did.
I guess you can't win em' all, right? As many awesome days that we have together, there has to be a few bad ones, right? Well our bad day had finally come and I couldn't wait for it to be over!!!! Cause when it's bad, it's really BAAADDD!!

Later that night, I ran across a parenting blog and had to share. These words were very appropriate for my day and what I was feeling at that very moment.....

"Parenting is supposed to be hard because it’s a process that challenges me to become my best self. Trying moments? Those are really opportunities to obtain the very best gifts life has to offer. I realize that for many, the best gifts life has to offer is a child accepted to Yale, a hot body or a house that’s the envy of the neighborhood. The gifts of parenting are much better because they actually make us happy: a Patience that brings calm and immense peace; an emerging ability to Problem Solve life's many conflicts effectively and respectfully; the nourishing power of Praise; the freedom that Planning brings; the powerful tool Play is to learn, connect and enjoy."

These days of diapers and tantrums and teething and projectile vomit seem like they’ll go on forever, but they won’t. Every day carries within it seeds even now growing into thousands of tiny endings- the last bath in the sink, the last time you wear an elmo shirt or a diaper, the last time we hold hands at the park, the last day of middle school, the last day before you discover facebook, the last day you’re unkissed and the last day we share the same address. It doesn’t seem like it, but the journey as I know it will end. However its my love, my patience, my problem-solving, our memories... they will always be with me.

Resemblence

A picture of me and Ava at the same age.

I think Conor's feelings are hurt because she doesn't resemble him like Audrey did. You can't win em' all! :))

Gymnastics

Audrey's been to gymnastics twice now, and loves it. It's a lot to take in as a 2 year old, so she's ALL over the place. It's hard to keep up with her, but I do my best trying to lead her to the next station.

We had just arrived and she was watching her new gym friends enter the building.
:Overload:
Balance Beam
1st flip
I think it hurt her belly
This is Audrey's favorite spot, on the circles by the jump pit.
A ring pop to celebrate. Don't you just love her leg warmers?
Funny story about these pink shoes. Audrey is so infatuated with them. She has worn them to bed for almost a week now. I'm convinced she would wear them in the tub if I would let her. After she'd gone to sleep a couple of nights ago, I snuck into her room to take off her shoes. She shot straight up out of a dead sleep the minute I unvelcroed them and started bawling when she realized I was taking them off.
I let her keep them in bed. :/
Not really a good habit to reinforce shoes on the bed, but I don't know what else to do. They're the first thing she asks for when she wakes up and the last thing before bed. Maybe I need to start stockpiling them for the years to come??

Ava's a scrappy lil thing. She wants what she wants, when she wants it! Gimme that sucker!
They're pretty darn cute together!

Is the 'sleeping with your shoes on' thing normal?

Mary Beth's Birthday

Last Saturday morning, we celebrated Mary Beth's birthday with a Donut & Juice Pajama Party. It was so adorable and I loved the theme. The kiddos had a ball and were bouncing off the walls from the sugar high.
Ava still sleepy and taking in all the chaos.
The Tumble Bus pulled up and kids just started running!
Meanwhile, I was in the kitchen admiring Nancy's adorable donut set-up!
Blurry, but love this shot of Audrey's pigtails.
Audrey was busted! I caught her sticking her fingers in Mary Beth's birthday cake.
After some sprinkles
So grateful to have a wonderful neighbor!!
Nancy is the sweetest, and I knew I could count on her to wear her pjs also. We were the only ones. Ha!

P.S~April Fools. I'm not pregnant! I couldn't help it. It was the only good one I could think of. I had so many texts, emails, calls from people congratulating us.
I got ya!
